F A Q
What is Chi Phi?
The Chi Phi (XΦ) Fraternity, as it exists today, is the outgrowth of three older organizations, each of which bore the name of Chi Phi. These organizations were the Chi Phi Society, founded at the College of New Jersey (Princeton); the Chi Phi Fraternity, established at the University of North Carolina; and the Secret Order of Chi Phi, founded at Hobart College.
Is Chi Phi a "Greek" fraternity?
Yes, Chi Phi is a social fraternity. We are one of the four organizations on our campus who fall under the Men's Greek Life category.

What is Greek Life like at Oglethorpe University?
Greek membership can help make the transition into college life easier and more enjoyable for students. Fraternities and sororities offer a support system to members through close friendships and opportunities for on-campus involvement. Joining a fraternity or sorority can help greatly broaden a student’s social network and connect the student to the university in more ways than just attending classes. In fact, students who choose to go Greek are 20% more likely to graduate in four years than those who do not. For most fraternity and sorority members, their brothers and sisters become the closest friends they will ever have, throughout college and beyond.
The Greek community at Oglethorpe University has a long, rich history. Since the 1850s, Oglethorpe students have chosen to become life-long members of fraternities and sororities because of the opportunities and experiences that these organizations provide.
How can I join Chi Phi?
Chi Phi is open to all Traditional Undergraduate students who identify as Male. Each year, in the Fall semester, Chi Phi is a part of Oglethorpe's Interfraternity Council Recruitment. This is a two-week long process wherein interested parties will acquaint themselves with current chapters on campus through a series of events. Thereafter, bids of membership will be given out to the individuals at the digression of the chapter.

Does Chi Phi haze?
Absolutely not! Our Chapter strictly abides by the Oglethorpe University Policy on Hazing as well as the Chi Phi National Hazing Policy, which states, "All forms of hazing shall be prohibited..."
How much does it cost to become a member of Chi Phi?
Currently, new membership dues for the Chi Phi Fraternity at Oglethorpe University are a little under $500.
